Spring has finally arrived!!!
To celebrate, we will be focusing on creating Balance and Strength to launch ourselves in to this blossoming time of year.
By standing tall and facing up to those imbalances you may have in life and in your body, you in fact create a peace within you that enables you to become far stronger and free to stand tall.
Tonight (Tuesday) in class we will bring awareness to our imbalances and work on building focus and strength to harmonise the body to enable it to find stillness and poise.
During this March Equinox, the sun is shining directly on the equator and the length of night and day are nearly equal. Equinox meaning 'equal Night'. March Equinox has long been celebrated as a time of rebirth.
The Snake of Sunlight
One of the most famous ancient Spring equinox celebrations was the Mayan sacrificial ritual by the main pyramid at Chichen Itza, Mexico.
The main pyramid – also known as El Castillo – has four staircases running from the top to the bottom of the pyramid's faces, notorious for the bloody human sacrifices that used to take place here.
The staircases are built at a carefully calculated angle which makes it look like an enormous snake of sunlight slithers down the stairs on the day of the equinox.
Such like the famous Mayan celebrations, let us become rays of sunlight as we release our inner spring snake energy (kundalini), stand tall and strong like a pyramid and shine bright.
Looking forward to seeing you all tonight in class (Tuesday PM YOGA i-D at Matter, BS5 19:30-21:00).
