Last week we considered the benefits of stress and this week we consider tiredness. We get it, right? Whether we feel constantly fatigued or whether we burn the candle at both ends too many times at this jolly season - whatever the reason, however, it is important not to overlook it and to conclude for yourself why it is occurring in you.
And guess what.. Yoga can help! Why? Because it not only gives you mountains of energy, but it also restores those low batteries and helps recharge. By standing in strong standing postures or flowing through a Sun Salutation, it may feel like you are using that last bit of strength that you have, but in actual fact, you are empowering yourself to stand tall and to breath deeper in to the areas of tiredness and move the flow that may be stuck inside yourself. We work with the breath, as you know, to reoxygenate the body (as opposed to eating your way out of tiredness or reaching for coffee... do the opposite). Nourish yourself, eat less and healthier and... move! Stay active. Then... here comes the good bit... just be still!!! As sometimes, especially if you have children, work, commitments and you just cant stop or get that early night to catch up, you can use Yoga as a tool to bring life back in to you and remove the tired stagnant energy or lack of it.
Simply to invert your body (any posture with heart over head, reversing the flow) you bring oxygen back to the brain. The brain, it tells us all kinds of crazy storylines and we can get a bit stuck on thinking it's full of truth, but actually your body is the one that does most of the talking if we just choose to listen to it once and a while. So hey, if you are tired tonight and you feel like making a new storyline... come to yoga! Move with us and feel revitalised!
