Calling all the people here to see the show.
Calling all my demons now to let me go.
I need something, give me something wonderful.
You cant steal the things that God has given me.
You cant take me down, you cant break me down.
Love and hate.
For the love of everybody.
I need something more.
Look behind the wall.
Here are some of the lyrics I love from the wonderful 'Love and Hate' track by the divine voice of Micheal Kiwanuka. I love many of his lyrics, in particular at this time of year, as we all discover what it is that we 'need'. This can be painful. This can require diving deep inside ourselves. Sometimes we don't even decide, the decision is made for us by circumstance or others. What I am learning, just recently it has risen again in a powerful way, in many shapes and forms, is how at this time of year in particular this can feel like you have lost control as things are changing rapidly and I can have a physical response to the loss and that at the time can feel negative emotionally.
But, what I can literally see right before me and feel within me, is that Kali magic (Kali a symbol of the feminine goddess as an aspect of the eternal mother nature), the divine force of nature beyond our control that mostly is actually continuing to work as our protector, making these changes to our world to in fact benefit us in more ways than the gain of having whatever it is that goes away.
I feel it, I see it, I know it's happening all around us in powerful measures, to me, to you.
I am grateful to these difficult moments in helping me to come closer to the inner knowing of what we do actually 'need' in our lives, as opposed to what we 'want' or desire. There is a unique difference. And its hard to differentiate at times. It is subtle.
Spring is suitably a time for these acknowledgements within our lives and within our physical and spiritual self. Off the back of this weekend, where we have dived in to a break from the usual rhythms of life, ducked out of work, seen friends, played, indulged and taken time for rest. Whatever you did... have you made any new discoveries about what that wonderful something is that you need, for you? If we relate this to the meaning of 'Easter' as simply a time of rebirth. What may have been reborn in you, now? In this moment.
For me, I feel like I have faced that wall that the song above is referring to. The saying 'hit a brick wall' comes to mind. It feels a struggle to climb over it, but in times of challenges and changes, that is what is needed. As when you loose something, rather than focus on the loss, ask yourself, what have you gained?
What is being born?
Ask yourself, what happens if I climb over the wall or at least make it to the top of the wall and take a peep beyond it? In my opinion, and what I can already feel by doing so, is that you gain a new perspective as the bare minimum. You gain a sense of gratitude for that which already lives, that which stays. The 'gifts that god has given me' as the lyrics again sing above. As nothing or no one can ever take those away!
Belief is so wonderful. On saturday, I went walking and ended up inside a beautiful church and just sat. I am not religious but the power that it held was incredible. What I gained from entering and just sitting for a while was that by having an existing holding quiet space, simply offers people the environment that gives time for thought, for reflection, for resurrection. The peace. The space.
Your church is within you. A simple regular sit in meditation allows you to enter your own church and become better in tune with your own infinite. Through reflection and taking time to process thoughts, you may look beyond the challenges and the hurt, the pain and the loss, and begin to see that just over that wall is a world of new opportunities, crying out to invite you to embrace it, open to welcoming you, that gifted individual that is full of so much to offer, to come along and jump in to the new with that freshness that you hold within you, ready to be offer it out selflessly 'for the love of everybody'.
Love and Hate.
"the infinite potencies of sound derive from the Creative word AUM, the cosmic vibratory power behind all atomic energies. Any word spoken with clear realisation and deep concentration had a materialising value." - Autobiography of a Yogi.
We will explore this in our Yoga practice this week... STAND OUT! Speak truth in Love and Hate. I call you to see your own show, to let the demons go and climb over the wall using your asana practice as a way to let the changes happen, make the changes and begin to climb the wall. Become better in tune with the infinite.
