Udana Vayu is going to be this weeks focus for practice. It is the upward moving energy or Vayu, that is activated by Samana Vayu, as we explored last week at the naval centre. We will work with some inversions to connect with this movement of energy and feel quality in our meditation, as we make it more possible after inversions to come to sit in stillness. This vayu, is the way of expression, governing the throat centre, affecting the glands such as the thyroid and parathyroid glands that regulate metabolism. If we stay in balance through this vayu we find confidence and assertiveness. Being assertive is one quality that I find difficult the most, but as I work on this in my personal practice, I notice the benefit in all aspects of life, when we are able to express in this way and then begin to achieve our aspirations.
