“Lucy brings a feeling of deep authenticity and living practice to her classes. With Lucy I can relax fully into her guidance with a feeling of trust and perhaps, awe.”
Meet Lucy
Devoted to Yoga for over 25 years, my path continues to unfold through study, practice, and the many roles I embody—student, mother, partner, friend, godmother, teacher, artist, bhakti singer, and producer. Guided by my teacher, supported by my sangha, and inspired by daily life, I remain committed to attuning and deepening my practice.
My intention is to keep the ancient traditions of Yoga alive—offering them in ways that remain relevant and accessible for today’s generations. I am especially passionate about sharing philosophy, myth, and mantra alongside embodied practices of movement and breath, inviting students to turn inward and cultivate a deeper connection with self.
Chanting mantra has become integral to my own journey. It weaves naturally through my teaching and is also shared in dedicated sessions. Singing and playing the harmonium are my devotional practices—opening the heart and uncovering the divine within.
Beyond the mat, I explore Yoga through art, writing, and my work as a university lecturer, seeking creative ways to extend and embody these teachings.
I am blessed with three children and two stepchildren, and walk an Ayurvedic healing path with my partner and fellow Lucid Bhajans musician, in Bristol, UK.
“The quality of deep Bhakti is astonishing, and is the key stone to her alchemical classes. Deep Gratitude, from a fellow yogini”
“We cultivate authenticity through Svadhyaya - practice and learning. And there is always so much more to learn.”
Biography
I started Yoga at the age of 15, after attending my first yoga class that involved traditional slow Hatha, breathing practices and a purifying meditation of Trataka (candle gazing). Following that one time experience, I became disciplined to understand Yoga principles and began to study scripture & practice daily, letting my style of practice take various forms as I experimented with my living connection with Yoga and my developing self. I moved from Glastonbury to London, taking pilgrimage to places in Europe, Morocco and Japan, inhabiting countless homes, Yoga Studios and Buddhist Centres whilst exploring various teachers and styles.
After unexpectedly giving birth to my first child whilst attempting to travel to India, I settled in Bristol. It was in 2013, that I decided it was time to formally study Yoga to enable more discipline and devotion to my practice, since having a child and my time now being less available. During my 5 year long Foundation & Diploma, I became pregnant and birthed my second child. I studied how to teach Yoga with the British Wheel of Yoga, which taught me how to teach yoga postures, anatomy and physiology, yoga philosophy, breathing practices, mindfulness, meditation and relaxation, but subscribes to no Guru or prescribed way of practicing Yoga. I found my beloved Teacher, Wendy Teasdill, who continues to guide my teaching path and ignite my passion towards Yogic Philosophy and its integration in my teaching practice.
I Qualified as a BWY Pregnancy Yoga Teacher, at a time where I was able to use myself as the student in practices I was learning to teach expectant mothers, which was of great benefit. I have further studied Advanced Anatomy, Physiology & Hands on Teaching Practices, immersed in Bhakti Prana Vinyasa Flow Training from world-re-knowned Teacher Shiva Rea, studied Celtic Yoga Tradition & Myth through The Celtic School of Yoga with Teachers Jack Harrison and Uma Dinsmore Tuli and I continue to Sing & Study Mantra and play the Harmonium, and offer monthly music sessions as well as Kirtan offerings at Yoga Retreats.
For many years, I taught thriving Weekly Drop In Classes in Bristol, at Conscious Festivals including Buddhafield Green Earth Awakening, Climate Activist Camps, taught Yoga during Protest on the Streets of London, set up Charity Events for ‘Yoga Stops Traffic’ raising awareness of Human Trafficking in India, as well as running workshops on Yoga & Harvesting Food at Feed Bristol and Bhakti Prana Vinyasa Flow.
In the early days, I established my teaching under the name ‘A Yoga i-D’, presented as a Yoga Brand to purposefully appeal to a popular Yoga aesthetic, where I had observed how Yoga had become increasingly popular as exercise classes concerned with inversions, fitness and fashion. The duality of the name enabled me to market my classes both being Yoga and concerned with I-dentity, however whilst it looking fashionable, the content of the classes themselves aimed to be further from that truth. I was able to capture that market and then teach authentic Yoga, which I hoped captivated students more than its original feel as they began to identify with their true selves through developing an innate wisdom, no longer concerned with the external identity. I became fascinated by what drives people to attend a class versus what sustains them coming. It was an experimental time of teaching and promoting my class.
I supported my drive to teach Authentic Yoga, by writing and sharing a weekly Blog online, which discussed Yogic Philosophy and my personal insights. This Blog aimed to provide more wisdom than what could be gained in a 1.5hr Yoga Class to encourage students to delve deeper in to their understanding of Yoga and their personal relationship to their practice, as not just a physical one. Subsequently, the Blog ran for 7 years and became voted as one of ‘Yoga's Top 10 Blog’s’ Online.
In 2020, I paused teaching, immersing myself in an Ayurvedic Healing path, continuing to practice, play and study Mantra, as well as going on to have my third child.
Since returning in 2024, I’m passionately offering Authentic Yoga & Music sessions to students that wish to journey alongside me, introducing deeper practices that resonate through me and back out in to the world to you. Together I promote moving towards Beauty, Truth and Unity in your practice and your relationship with Yoga & the power of Music to find your true self and the divine within.
